Ranged has many more attacks, in most cases, so maybe they don't compare but if you add it up it can match...
Also melee gets extra damage from Strength so it is pretty strong.

1h guns and 2h ranged weapon can easy get more attacks per round. Also critical multiplier is 3x on ranged which is higher than 1h melee (2x).
Like Dooz said A2 absorber best for ranged and 1h guns because 1h guns don't always get a lot of critical and legendary ranged gives standard -45%.

I'm not sure if +chance to hit with ranged counts for 1 agility and perception for every 3 or just 1 of them but it seems rather low. You have a massive chance to hit but it is much better to have actual stats to back it up and a percentage would be much nicer at higher levels because remember you lose all your defence and a lot of perception.

I think Endurance level 5 should have "weapon damage increased by 1 for every 6 character levels" and on chance to hit smaller increments and a % since the huge -PERCEPTION nerfed these weapons.

You need Perception to hit with guns.
If you are getting these stats you might aswell just use a ranged weapon...
Thoughtcatcher is ok for any but for best results using melee you need Cultist or Beastmaster.

Yes you can borrow clan items, just note that "Legend has it that he may be killed only with a silver bullet" it kinda suggests it is easier with guns and it is rather correct there.
