I know what you mean about about Wurts getting slightly over descriptive (massive understatement) but she does write character very well. Have been reading her Curse of the Mistwraith series for about 13 years now, 8 books on and still no end in sight. probably could have been done by now if it wasn't for all of that dust! to addicted to care though.

Have you been reeding Ursula LE Guin by the way? The eldest dragon if I remember correctly.

Anything that has won the Pulitzer Prize like To Kill a Mockingbird or the Shipping news is always worth a read, not quite as heavy as the Booker can sometimes be.

I enjoyed most of the books for my A-levels especially the poetry Larkin and Plath, Got really fed up with having to over analyze Shakespeare though.

Pretty much anything by P G Wodehouse or Ben Elton

I know how you feel, fantasy series take such a long time, especially if the author has not finished writing them yet! Think this makes them all the more worth while though.

I've not read any Robert Jorden, will have to check it out.

Hey Cthulhu never seen Future for Brazil, will try to find it. Guess I put BTF in there purely for sentimental reasons, bit like why I went to see indiana jones (disappointing)

by the way spaghetti westerns, awesome! You just can't have one without Clint, unless maybe Mr Wayne!

Ok, sorry if this has been done before, but seeing as film and music has been done I was wondering what people enjoy reading. I love fantasy and these would be my top five writers.

Janny Wurts (Basically everything she has ever written)
Katherine Kerr
David Eddings
Tolkien (of course)
Bernard Cornwell ( The story of king Arthur, not fantasy but brilliant all the same)

Have run out of titles at the moment so would love to know what other people are reading for a bit of inspiration!

I think it is important that the board does not become to elitist, if a level five expresses an opinion on a valuation which is wrong they will learn from there mistake by being corrected by a more experienced player. Providing they are not spamming people have a right to express an opinion.

I think it is important to bare in mind the difference in age of a lot of people who play BW. At 25 I would like to think I am quite a lot more mature than someone who is fourteen and I would expect this to be evident in our posts. However I would have to agree that there are a few people who are just writing things for the sake of getting on the board.

I am sure we all agree that the mods do a great job, so maybe some of the onus should fall on the creator of the thread to tell these people to stop writing prattle.

Mary Whitehouse must be turing in her grave. Lol

Some great films from the 70's and 80's:

Deer Hunter
Exorcist
Godfather
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
Clockwork Orange

Highlander (part 1 only!)
Ferris Buellers Day Off
Blues Brothers
Stand By Me
Back to the Future

Oh and I could not agree more with Cthulhu, Pi is an awesome film.

The table does not lie, Sure Liverpool finished strong again, but as usual they had a shocking start to the season, untill they sort that out the gunners will remain the better team.

An argument for not giving away your account. 05-07-2008 23:47 Forum: Mishmash

I would like to stress this is just an opinion, I have the upmost respect for anyone who has reached a position at the top of the game. The amount of hours these people have put into making BW the great game that it is deserves respect. However I feel very strongly that in taking over an account and skipping 100 points you are devaluing your experience of BW, how can you have the respect for that character if it has taken no effort to create.
There has been a lot made recently about the amount of high level players leaving and I would agree that this is very sad, but it does give incentive to newer players that at some stage they may be able to make it to the top of the rankings, this surely is just the natural evolution of the game, something that is disrupted if a character is passed from one person to the next.
A couple of ideas have been mentioned on the boards that might help with this:

1. A stickied hall of fame ( sorry if this has already been stuck )

2. Permanent vacation in Z5

If these two things where put into place I believe it would go a long way to righting what in my considered opinion is a bit of a problem.
Anyway, bit of a rant. lol and as I said just an opinion. I would be very interested to hear other peoples opinion on this.

I have found this a bit of a balancing act. Do you do harder quests in order to find better equipment to sell, but with a higher failure rate. Or concentrate on progressing fast in order to get them when you level up. At level 38 I am still not at a stage where both are easy to do at the same time. Not complaining though just ads to the addictive nature of BW, always something to aim for!

God there is some horrible grammar there, but i'm a bit drunk so can't be arsed to fix it. lol

I went with sniper. Think that this was mainly dictated by the fact I got shorts of sun and bandana of prophet right at the start of the game which meant that I focused on guns. From that point it was a choice between assassin or sniper, be a specialist or keep my options open for later in the game. Still not sure if I made the right choice!

God this is almost impossible, I could probably make a list of over a hundred and only just scratch the surface, but anyway:

1. Big Lebowski
2. Withnail & I
3. Twelve Monkeys
4. Dr Strangelove: or how I learnt to stop worrying and love the bomb.
5. The Usual Suspects

These are just films I love but there are so many more!

Bennasi is a bit cheesy for me, but then most type of music have a time and a place and some of his remixes like California Dreaming make me smile.

On my Playlist at the moment,

Freestylers
Depeche Mode
Echo and the bunnymen
Some old Metallica
Pumpkins
Bush
McCartney & Wings
Les Rythm Digitales
and some techno CD that I got years ago at a club called headcharge in Sheff.

variety is the spice of life!!!
