Yep, I think I was doing attacks when it appeared. Probably that. I'll change my settings then not to show external graphics.

Malware Ahead! Warning in Chrome 08-26-2014 20:09 Forum: Bugs and problems

Id in game: Arya Stark

Problem description: Logged in today for the first time in ages using Google Chrome on my work laptop. Playing normally over a few hours, quests, auctions, attacks. Suddenly got this warning message:

"Content from dreamworlds.ru, a known malware distributor, has been inserted into this web page. Visiting this page now is very likely to infect your computer with malware."

Doesn't sound good does it? Russian website trying to insert malware into my computer via Bloodwars, hope this is just a mistake and not a hack or something. Thought somebody should know.

don't know english to read this all s... if Rintwo asked U to stop atacking him
then try to respect this - i think that is not much

Sorry, I do ramble on too much.
If he has the right to ask me to stop attacking him, do I not have the right to ignore him? Why should he have all the power?

Besides, he's actually sorted himself a decent attacking setup and can now beat me comfortably >.<
http://r1.bloodwars.net/showmsg.php?mid=...&key=1b65c7fb32
Granted, he's 3 levels higher than me and doesn't get much XP, but was there really any NEED for him to ask me to stop attacking - or for me to listen? He can now, just 6 days after his first message, hit me back whenver he likes! Should I take offence and ask HIM not to attack ME? Or should I just suck it up and wait till he either finds someone higher lvl who gives more XP, or I find a setup he can't beat.

quote:
Message 8
Fair deuce. I understand the way it works. You attack and can win then fair
play. I'm not a great player and loads can beat me, I don't mind. Others are a
little more dedicated so like to see them get ahead!! I guess attack but don't
do too excessively.. Sound good?

Oh fair enough I suppose there IS a point at which repeated attacks become obsessive, even I think attacking twice a day for months and months on end is fairly excessive... nothing against game rules of course but its just lazy, repetative and boring to play for both characters... sounds more like a dull point and click Facebook game than a real dynamic game against challenging opponents. Which is what we're here to play after all Smile

The trouble is, my definition of "excessive" is clearly far greater than some player's definition, who can be quite sensitive about where the boundary lies. A couple of weeks of twice daily attacks seems entirely reasonable for me, if I'm getting optimal XP from a higher level player. If in that time they've done nothing to improve their character to fend off the attacks, they're leaving themselves open not just to me, but to others too... are they going to ask EVERYONE who can beat them to stop? It just doesn't seem reasonable to me. I suppose one of the reasons I decided to post this on the board was so we can open up just how often some characters do ask others to stop attacking them and under what circumstances, so's we as a group can try to unpick the issue.

I have to agree that if I had attacked a much lower level character obsessively for months on end and the recipient is at their wits end, struggling to find blood at half hit points and not enjoying the game any more.... well I don't wish to upset anyone. But we're talking HIGHER level players here. Granted, another issue is that I'm big, old and ugly enough not to let anything on the internet get to me, but I'm aware there are some very young players here who could find this sort of thing upsetting, and that's really not my goal. However, some of the most touchy players (I mean here other people who've complained to myself or Squiddy in years past) are grown adults, getting upset at three or four days of attacks, who really shouldn't take internet games personally.

I'd like EVERYONE to get out there and attack whomever they like, whenever they like! Doesn't that sound like more fun? Smile

Well exactly, its not fun to be hit constantly, but its impetus to improve. Thus attacks improve the game for everyone Smile

No point to that. It's part of the game, I get that. It's just that it can be polite to hold back every once in a while.

But where one draws the line between acceptable and not acceptable is subjective, and depends on your individual expectation. How am I to know in advance what your expectation of attack density is - this will lead to laid back people being hit far more than those who are sensitive and touchy, and keep asking others to politely hold back, which is itself intrinsically unfair is it not? I would argue that three or more attacks per day was impolite, but two is reasonable. Who is to judge which of us is correct? Would it not be better for the server as a whole to agree that two attacks per day is acceptable... as the game itself allows no more anyway.

Besides, I have only been playing intensively for a few weeks, and the characters involved I haven't hit twice a day for more than perhaps 5 days in the last couple of weeks, because not only do I have other ppl to hit, I don't always get all my attacks done, but I'm getting under 100 XP from them now and I have bigger fish to fry ... plus the fella who first messaged me has just sorted his setup now so he can attack me and win! So what was the point of all this hassle in the first place? If he just accepted that attacks happen and didn't take it personally, I'd have stopped hitting him since I can get better XP elsewhere, and he'd start being able to beat me anyway - despite the fact I'm smaller and he can probably get better XP himself elsewhere.

quote:
In game message 2
I agree with you on the front that attacking people is the way of the game as i
belive that to, but there is no need to directly say A.S on a clan message or
board post as it only seems to be two people.

Unfortunatly no end of asking them to stop will from us or you, best thing i can
suggest is just to ignore them sorry. Frown

My point is that this is a bit of a divided issue across the whole server - and its one that tends to cause pockets of bad feeling between clans because we don't discuss it as a whole in public. Thus individuals feel victimised, start personal vendettas (or get their clan mates to), their own clans may not even realise their members are behaving this way. Thus surely a public airing would be healthier for everyone? I had decided to ignore them but it starts to grind on one's patience - why should one group of people feel victimised by attacks and angry, and another group be bombaded by messages and feel victimised and angry? Can't we reach a consensus that playing the game is not wrong?

quote:
In game message 3
i think that U're attacking twice a day those players bcuz U aren't good enough
to find as many players to attacking once a day Smile

but of course i could be wrong - so what do U thnik about this

Ah now that IS a good point - I usually spy out a couple of pages above me when I have time, identify those I can beat them hit them for a week or so till its worth re-spying. And I was being lazy in not having had time during the week to re-spy when the number of people on my hit list dwindled below 16. You're quite right, I don't have a great character, such there are only probably only 20 people higher lvl than me in Z4 or Z3 act 2 that I can beat and get good XP from, there will be days when I hit some of them twice. But if I get TOO lazy then I'm not hitting as high as I could, thus you have the opportunity to level up faster than me and can outpace my character. But this is how to improve is it not - to get the optimum XP from attacks so you level up faster and find bigger people to hit? We each find those we can beat and hit them till we can attack higher levels for more XP... isn't that how the game SHOULD be played?

Agreed, there will be times when we don't have time to spy out the best targets, but thats probably true of everyone. And if you're getting beaten up by a smaller character anyway (as in most cases this is how to get more XP), shouldn't you just improve your gear so I can't win any more instead of complaining to me and asking me to stop playing the game as it is best for me to do so?

quote:
In game message 4
I guess I misunderstood the meaning of 'allies'- check your clan page. My Bad.
Happy gaming.

I take this action as an individual. I've only been in END for a little while, I have informed my clan that I'm happy to leave if this issue reflects badly on them, I'm not trying to stir up clan tension.

My understanding of clan alliances is not that they do not attack each other, rather these clans exchange members for clan buildings, expos, and to defend against hostile siege takeovers. Otherwise clan alliances would limit the number of attacks each clan can do severely reducing their ability to advance. This is not of benefit to anyone.

quote:
In game message 5
im sorry about this, they have no right to ask you to stop attacking them.
everyone farms someone, it is part of the game. i dont think you should stop.
and if you can kill him then you should attack the beast 2 aswell.

What a nice message, thanks Smile I agree completely. Its sort of scissors rock stone anyhow - as a Monk I'm pretty good at hitting gunners or low agility melee, but ranged slays me and I can't touch BKs. But those gunners can probably rip through BKs in turn. I believe we should all hit whomever we wish, as often as it is advantageous for us to do so - nobody remains optimal XP gain for long anyhow.

quote:
In game message 6
hello, rintwo told me about that, and was was about to kick your ass a little
bit, then I realized that you were of lower level,so he shouldn't
complain, neither be proud of it Smile

So far I don't think ther'll be a clan's war.

Well that's the thing, if you get your bigger clan members to beat up someone who has attacked you... yes, you'll regain any resources stolen but THEY won't get hardly any XP, you'll just be limiting their growth for them. You get good XP for beating up bigger folk in higher zones than you - if you complain about that, its time to improve your character and concentrate on beating up those that you CAN beat that are bigger than you. Either I will advance faster and outstrip you, or YOU will advance faster and outpace me... either way, we ALL win Smile

And no, I'm not trying to start up clan trouble, this is me talking as an individual. If that becomes an issue I'll leave the clan I'm in.

Sorry for resurrecting an old thread, but I'm getting messages from Rintwo and The beast 2 in A.S regarding attacking twice a day and rather than go through the same tired argument with everyone who objects, I wish to use this thread to open a dialogue with them, and anyone else who has an issue with attacks twice a day...

My point of view regarding attacks is stated in my profile (where I play as Arya Stark):
"If I have attacked you and you did not enjoy the experience, don't bother messaing me. I either attacked for XP (if you're higher level), for resources (if you're lower level), or for poops and giggles. I did not do it to upset you. This is how the game is PLAYED.In the rare occasion that you are trying to gather resources and I have divested you of them, in that case I will happily donate them back Smile Otherwise, save the wear and tear on your keyboard...If you "only attack inactives" and hope your pious pewling will SHAME me into stopping, it will not. If you decide to farm me in return, hoping it will somehow teach me a lesson and force me to stop, all that will happen is that we BOTH level up faster.... Everybody wins."

It is my opinion that Blood WARS is a GAME in which a maximum of two attacks on the same person is hard-wired into the coding, a facility intended to be used. Attacks are not intended as a personal insult in the slightest. If you cannot handle being attacked twice a day, you are playing the wrong game. I cannot take your life, your items or harm your square. I am not sieging to steal squares nor could I be bothered to (although that is perfectly permissible under the game rules). I attack for either XP or resources, and I believe you should maximise both however you can. Generally either one or other of us will go outside of optimal XP range within a few weeks anyway, so just grin and bear it. I've played plenty of other games where others do far nastier things to your account than just attack twice per day, and nobody whinged about it there, its a weird R1 BW cultural thing I think. I do NOT view BW as a social networking site where we all hold hands and sing songs, declining to attack each others through a self-sacrificing sense of altruism and gaining paltry XP and meagre resources from regularly-beaten inactives....

If you are getting hit twice a day and you don't like it: buy better items, attack those YOU can beat, expo your little heart out and improve your character such that I can no longer beat you. I'm not that good a character, it won't take you too long, and you'll feel a great sense of accomplishment when I finally bounce off your defensive setup. Also, feel free to hit me back! If anyone wishes to attack me twice a day through some sense of retaliation, feel free Smile The more active players on this small server the better, bring it on! I will be happy to see you, we can discuss how each attack went, whether you caught me in questing gear or whether you're getting closer to beating me, and some day when you farm me day after day I can lament the days when I used to beat you instead Smile

Question concerning pushing 06-13-2011 12:12 Forum: Mishmash - Underworld

I'm going to delete my character, so I'm selling off my best items. Consequently I have many stones now, and have offered to buy (or sell I suppose!) junk from my clan-mates, rather than waste the stones. Since the price of junk is hard-wired into the auction system so that you cannot pay more than junk is worth, if I arrange to pay full price for junk is there any way that could be considered pushing?

I don't want to get anybody into trouble, but there's no point me just deleting all these stones.

@foxy - that double attack the most objective measure I've seen, Anubis does do more damage and dodging but it doesn't seem to outweigh the critical hits of Paranoia. Still, there's something in it and I don't think anyone's really taken full advantage of the Monk tattoo yet.

Unfortunately I'm really lazy and crap at merging, so it won't be me. But somebody could make a very effective Monk someday I'm sure Smile

I think the Monk's toughness and regeneration are just pitiful at a high lvl, but the dodge guns would be ace, and that 2 damage per 4 character levels is pretty powerful. Its just a shame there's no critical chance on there. You could counteract that a little with a tiger's set, but it would still be behind the assassin in critical hit terms. I'm just not sure how much more effective critical hit is against pure base weapons damage.

Assassin or monk? 04-23-2011 09:19 Forum: Words of advice

Clearly a monk is a defensive tattoo and assassin is concentrated on offensive capabilities. I wonder if anybody's done the maths and compared the extra damage of the monk with the extra critical chance and ignores defence of the assassin. Which do you think has the higher damage output? For comparison...

Assassin
Traits: chance for critical strike +25%
Traits: ignores 20 % of opponent's defence
Traits : all weapons damage +11, chance for critical strike +5 %
Traits : experience +18 % (aura*)

Monk
Traits: TOUGHNESS +15
Traits: dodge guns +25 %
Traits : character defence +30, damage increased by 2 for every 4 char (would be 42 damage for my level)
Traits : +15 to HIT PTS per hit, experience +20 % (aura*)

Does anybody get where these dates were derived from?

Ryba = fish, I assumed the star sign, pisces. I googled it, the first page that came up said 20/2 until 20/3, so I was never going to get the 19th no matter what the other two were!
http://www.astrology-online.com/pisces.htm

Kosmea = cosmoses... what does this even mean?

Zajc doesn't even display on my computer. I presume it referred to the Chinese Year of the Rabbit? But our translation stated 'hare' which I assumed referred to the constellation of the hare, Lepus. A hare is NOT a rabbit! They're different species, and the most common English association would be the March Hare.

I'm very confused.

The argument that everyone was bored and A_N are doing the server good is bull. Nobody in A_N gives a damn about the rest of the server, that is clear. Most people complaining of boredom are now in A_N amusing themselves by bullying the rest of the server. Meanwhile, those of us who were happy a week ago are now facing enemies where once they thought there were friends. Serafine is perfectly correct, most of the clans now being disbanded to face this threat were all about helping smaller players to progress. This they can no longer do, and all those players are left out in the cold, vulnerable to being sieged, yet Vlade claims to care about such players. Hows that for two-faced hypocrisy.

And of course there are those using the newfound might of A_N as a strap-on enabling them to artificially "measure up" and to settle old scores with clans they used to belong to. How edifying.

quote:

Serafine was right about another thing:

People weren't happy when we had little poh, now they are unhappy we have too much. Not enough mobs, so they give us res option.... cost too much they lowered it. added second spawn in the month..... What more do people want? Log on to find all quests done and expo completed badge attained....

If A_N members are SO BORED by this game then perhaps they should stop complaining and enjoy what they had, before even that it is lost.

BW is a game, it is supposed to be fun. Not just for the strongest, but for newer players trying to grow. Otherwise all you have is stagnation. A_N have turned a fun server full of wonderful people into a selfish bitchfest that I'm becoming rather ashamed of.

As A_N's clanpage should have said after they lost the first siege:

This is a game, meant to be enjoyable to explore and to play. If you can find no new ways to make it interesting, start anew with a fresh concept (make a Cursed One monk who fights with clubs only!) or find another passtime. You cannot force change on a community because you feel you have reached the limit of its potential. Maybe you have, I doubt the devs imagined people would ever wish to play it for so long, when they first designed it. But no game designer can keep you amused for the rest of your life, THAT is not their job, it is yours!

Games are not meant to last a lifetime. There are very few games which I first played over 2 and a half years ago, which I still play. I played Planescape: Torment obsessively once upon a time, but I do not still sit down every day to play it any more as it ran out of things to offer me - That doesn't mean I bombard Black Isle with demands that they keep making the game new and exciting, that it is broken and they need to fix it for me!

We ALL love a good fight, or we wouldn't be gamers. That doesn't mean you have to stir up bad blood and make ridiculous claims to ensure one. I refer back to the week-long one-a-day wars the Source fought, against V13 and Dark, it was great fun and I'd highly recommend it to any clan who is bored. However, it was exhausting and left no room for anything else, so you may understand how others might not wish for that to be thrust upon them, if that is not what they want. And from the vehement opposition to A_N, I think it is clear the community as a whole does not want anarchy.

If everyone in A_N really wants daily sieges, then split into two and fight each other!

Yes, you certainly succeded in forcing a flurry of activity and a co-ordinated defence, albeit only once the threat had actually manifested itself. It has indeed been very diverting. However, rather than ushering in a new order, what you have proved is a lightning rod for malcontents (who should probably be playing more immediately stimulating games if they find BW so insipid), whilst proving that the majority of players not only like this server the way it is, but are willing to fight to keep it this way! BW, like life itself, is only as interesting as you make it.

If it ever became such that the majority of players wished for regular aggressive sieges and all-out war, then that is what would happen. There is no higher power to appeal to, the strongest will prevail and the shape of the server is what consensus allows. There are many other servers, without the poh patch, on which aggressives sieges are the norm, and players are welcome to sign up to them if that is what they want from this game. Personally, I've tried it and I don't like it. I like the (largely) gentlemanly conduct on this server, I love my clan, I'm proud of the defence HLL and their allies mobilised and I wouldn't want things any other way Smile

Aaah, such a long time ago... how nice to have a benchmark for progression Smile

What a difference 8 months makes.
I've sold that rifle, now I'm 2k nanites off merging a perfect sniper.
Mask of adrenaline now g+5, merged suffixed elvish shorts, bought suffixed antique knife, made a light of suicide, a couple of friendly of conquerors and finished all but a few pilgrimages, made a runic/defensive kit AND passed C and Daarth in the rankings Big Grin

Current goals
1) Merge that sniper to perfect
2) Cape of speed to g+5
3) Headband of adrenaline to g+5
4) Overtake Flash in the rankings... ok not likely, but wouldn't that just make him spit? xD I'll settle for an appearence in the top 50.

Hmm, its as irritating as a popup advert.

Nice idea, probably better as a part of the page tho rather than a pop-up, nobody likes those.

If they can afford to pay for that sort of thing, surely they can afford a second UK moria server?? ... No? Oh well, back to waiting Big Grin

That is such an interesting little gadget! Just to keep track of your own stats, let alone the rest of your clan Big Grin

I have signed in on the Polish board and voted "Tak, szczególnie dla serwerów angielskich"... which I think means 'yes, for the English server'... I'd love to see them implement the same thing over here, what a facinating device!

My zombie-busting team:

Faith from Buffy - kicks ass, and is way hotter than Buffy ever was
Marv from Sin City - as long as the zombies have nice coats he could probably take them all Wink
Deady little Miho - nuff said
Druss by Gemmell - reliable in a tight spot
Jayne from Firefly - a useful fighter and pretty funny too Smile

You can believe whatever you wish in this world Smile

However, he admitted, on camera, that he thought adults sleeping with children was wrong... but he thought it was ok for him to do it, cause it was an innocent, 'loving' thing.... ???? yeah ok, I'm sure many child abusers think they're doing something good at the time, but it doesn't turn out that way.

He made great pop music.

He was also proof that you can get away with child abuse if you are rich and powerful enough, which is disgusting to me.

I think there should have been options on the poll to say whether you would pay premium or not, so that the BW Team can see how many people would be prepared to cough up cash.

Something like:
Yes - Moria - prem
Yes - Moria
Yes - Necro - prem
Yes - Necro
No

But that's cool. I voted Yes - Moria - and I would pay premium. Smile

I think I get a message like this if I'm signed into my computer, then I sign into C's laptop... when I get back to my computer it says something like this and I have to log in again. I think it means you were logged in somewhere else already??

See?

Well, thats the thing with any tests for 'intelligence' (even non-dodgy-internet ones)... as they say, if an IQ test was desiged by an Aboriginal, the whole Western world would suck like retards Big Grin

There are many types of intelligence, eg I can get 96% in a physics test but I'm a social retard, and what's more important really? I love your posts, you make me laugh and I think you're funny as all hell, that's a far more important form of 'intelligence' to me than being able to figure out the next number in a series Tongue

Hehe all online IQ tests tell you that you are a genius, they're trying to flatter you into giving them money. The average for a real test is 100, if they gave a rather more honest '94' nobody would do them Wink And lol since when were IQ tests true or false?! You've a pretty good chance of getting every one of those questions right by guessing it in 30 seconds Tongue I did a proper IQ test as a kid... uh, it was very different xD

That said I love logic puzzles, and it killed 10 minutes - Your general IQ score is: 136 Smile
