If you check the "Path to the Ancients" page on the homepage of the tutorial wiki you will see the updated title screen i made a long time ago.
I personally think its more appealing than the original version and you can change it to the homepage if you agree. Let me know if you want any help with the wiki since I got a bunch of experience working on it when I recreated most pages on it a few years ago.

Hmm, then perhaps it should say "the wave of enemies", as you only fight one wave per level.

Its extra code to make it different per level i guess, i think it adds a tiny amount of cool factor though if it was unique to the level "the third wave of enemies has been defeated, how much longer..." etc.
Instead of "The first wave" multiple times anyway.

Anyone else care to share an opinion? =)

I duno man, can you argue that for the pl servers too? They do have more actives than us here sure... but how many more, double? triple?

From what ive been told none of those servers are near being full either - just having more players and MORE money to gain from them, does not mean they wont make a profit from another here.

I was kind of miffed when i saw pl getting r17, they have 17 and we have 2 .. everyone saying all the UW players would go their is a bit of a stretch, but heck loads of us would.

But not only that, a lot who have quit will come back to the game with a new server. I would go and unlike necro (snore fest) i would stay.

I want a new UW so much i tried to play on other servers, but the language barrier kills the game (as its 50% a social game) and i know sooo sooo many people have also tried this - meaning that they would all play and stay on UW2

.. BWs devs would make a profit opening another UW server here ... enough said.

Is there a gain for any member in the team? If so, then Batman's point is still valid, exp growth will jump up, meaning even more stones coming into the market, meaning more inflation etc.


But thats the same situation with joining as a samaritan - it means more people can start expos and thus more drops.

Samaritan starts just means that everyone can get a join Red Face


tho .. yea people could take advantage and flood areas with teams.. but thats what gather the hunters option is for i guess ;/

Basically the samaritan system applied to starting expos. I dont see why this would be much different to the joining feature as its basically the same.

You start an expo as a samaritan, people can join any way they like but you dont get any exp for it.

Another new expedition option. Works on either/both the expedition map and/or the koth map.

Lasts as long as a normal expedition - however as soon as you start it, its in the traditional "phase 2" mode - aka these are single man expeditions - only you go on the scavenge hunt.

Why? The reason to even bother is that you get a chance of loot - as long as you defeat the area monster at the end.

The area boss is 1 of the mobs you would normally fight in that location.
The area boss could also be a smaller version of the koth location.

The loot can be gathered in multiple ways:

  • You can have a series of "scavenge" reports before you reach the boss each containing a chance to loot some stuff (items, junk, resources) or unluckily nothing at all, akin to quests.

  • Or, it can just be the loot you gain from killing the expo mob - but thats less fun and entertaining.

The first method inspires people to go in different builds and play more risk verse reward play styles. I.e. do i want to go with more damage or more luck.

You could also add in some random enemies throughout the scavenge hunt, other players and mobs you encounter out in the wastelands - trying to steal you haul so far and get rich quick.
  • This could result in some lovely pvp options, the ability that .. once you defeat another player - you have the chance to steal some of the loot they have already gathered.

  • It also makes your gear more important too, do you go with the pvp build or the pve build. Do you go with a "few big hits" build for single mob battles or "lots of weaker hits" build for outnumbered battles?



Optional: Once you start the scavenge hunt, you cannot do any other actions such as change gear, do quests or attacks and join koth and expeditions - as you away from the city ..

This way its a end of the day thing to do after you have finished everything. You can still get a few in a day along with a Samaritan or 2 as well.

i like the idea of resource sieges not effecting honour and only resulting in evo point gains

a loss to honour makes them pretty risky ... even with how much easier it is to ge it these days .. its still often not worth that risk

I think its more akin to being defensive about something you invest time in, not mad =)

This reminds of when you hear tales of these sad, round shaped boys stealing gear in mmos and similar styled games and getting a kick out of it - then crying and screaming whenever some hardship comes their own way.

However some people dont even have the footballs to do that, they steal the gear and then delete their own account ... perhaps out of a fear of repercussion or just stupidity ...

Oh but of course these boys claim they were not really afraid, after all it was planned long ago ... very smart move on their part ... so much of ones time and energy spent plotting .... and eventually after a short period of time these people are forgotten and they then realize how much their time they have wasted ... years even ... =)

When i saw this a few days ago on the pl forums i assumed it meant searing blood but i wasn't 100% sure. Could of been something else for all i knew.

Got a few comments about "booo mages and warlocks" etc etc, but BWs is built around the mythos of magic, we use it in EVERYTHING we do. Arcana = magic. Besides, thats why i gave the second tattoo the name Master before mage, want to stay away from the traditional names from tradition rpgs

Its always sort of bothered me that we all have magic powers but it only slightly effects battles, some more than others but still, theirs no race/tattoo/weapon type to enhance the magical side of the BWs universe.

In a world with such epic bad guys and a interesting take on magic (arcana = blood magic) i think it could be really interesting to add new mechanics to highlight this area of the game and add another play style in the future.

New Weapons:
Stave:
  • Wands, Rods, Scepters, Staffs: i.e. DemonDude attacks with Wooden Staff of Pain and inflicts ....
  • Weapon effects: Decreased chance to hit (ranged), many attacks per round, medium - high damage
  • 2 handed
  • Dmg modifier: main: Intelligence, secondary: none


Arcana Blade:
  • Sabre, Whip, Horn, Gauntlet, Fan: i.e. DemonDude attacks with Abyssal Sabre of Nightmare and ....
  • Weapon effects: Increased chance to hit (melee), few attacks per round, low-medium damage
  • 1 handed
  • Dmg modifier: main: Intelligence, secondary: Strength


New Tattoos:
Summoner / Conjurer:
Summon:
  • 20% chance per round to summon 1 beast dependent on weapon, level 1/4 of own level
  • 20% chance per round to summon 1 beast dependent on weapon, level 1/2 of own level
  • 30% chance per round to summon 1 beast dependent on weapon, same level as your own level
  • 50% chance per round to summon 1 beast, if successful 20% chance to summon another beast dependent on weapon, same level as your own level

  • Increase your own and summoned creature defense and toughness by 50, +20% experience


i.e. imaginary list of prefix: wooden, metal, plastic, gold, abyssal etc. summoned creature is dependant on weapon level and prefix:
  • +5 wooden wand spawns: ent
  • g+5 wooden wand spawns: greater ent
  • p+5 wooden wand spawns: ancient ent

Special attacks are dependant on suffix: pain, suffering, fire, nightmare, etc.
  • +5 wand of fire: burn damage, each attack from minion causes extra damage
  • g+5 wand of fire: enhanced burn damage (think firewall etc) as well as above: after each attack from enemy in firewall they take extra dmg
  • p+5 mega burn damage: as well as above: at the start of each round enemy player takes burn damage from mega burn


ETCETCETC millions of things you can do with this type of system





Arcana Master / Arcana Mage:
Damage:
  • All weapon Damage + 3
  • All weapon Damage + 5
  • All weapon Damage + 7
  • All weapon Damage + 9
  • All weapon Damage + 11
Enhance:
  • Weapon Gains additional effect based on prefix
  • Weapon Gains additional effect based on prefix

Similar to summoner effects except you cause them with your own attacks



Any ideas? Im just thinking randomly about it, but it has potential to do a lot more than what im thinking. A lot of smarter ppl in BWs than me could turn this into a real archetype! Big Grin

Would be interesting to have a extra section on the clan page with the same expo medal system that profiles have, mouse over to see how many the clan has killed, with the pop up containing info like comparisons to your guild, top 5 contributors or last 5 contributors w/e could do many many things

Could also add that extra info to the guild member section, mouse over each player to see their contributions.

Perhaps could also have unique ranks/titles given for certain achievements, kill X mob x times and unlock a unique title .... kill 2000 dragons to unlock Dragon Exterminator or w/e. Make them unique by having them in bold, italic or different font/colour something to stand out from normal user set ranks.

Would be nice to see the clan page get a little bit more fun added to it Big Grin

Whenever these new items come out, they always immediately fill up chat with people talking about them and its a real shame to see them go especially considering how much work goes into some of them. Some times i think that i would way way rather use the new moniker than the original.

Was thinking of an easy on how to do it:
  • Current item names don't change during an event
  • All new items (that have names changed) looted during an event stay that way forever
  • No new auction page for the "new" items, they retain the ID of the original and appear under its name in current and closed auctions
  • Merging non event items with event items results in that item reverting to its original name i.e. an egg with a shuriken = a shuriken
  • Merging items from same event results in items staying in that events theme if possable, i.e. Egg + Easter Egg = Javlin as theirs no new name, but Egg + Egg = Egg


Would make it hard to keep the name for melee with so many prefix and suffix, but perhaps it could be done differently to keep the name via a radio or some other form of check box?

Would anyone like to keep the xmas event weapons for example? Would add a ton of variety and "fun" to the game Smile

Similar requests have come up in the past, but with the release of many patches since (esp koth) perhaps the mindset of the developers has changed. I think it would be really cool if every player could have a set of daily tasks, even if its only 2-5 tasks, not a lot.
Silly things like gain 3 points, gain x honour/evo points, pass a expo whatever, the amount it asks for could even be dependent on the zone your in.
But I am thinking more about sieges, its a really cool mechanic thats totally under used.

2 ways of doing it could be:

Task asks for any siege win, take over, poh, task
  • With every player having this task, this should result in a heck ton of sieges

Add another map for siege locations
  • You must siege areas on the map ala koth, can take as many people as you want or as few
  • If it takes a long time to get ready it will add an incentive to take smaller risky teams as everyone wants to pass their daily task


Keep the rewards akin to current tasks, perhaps even add another task 'Complete all daily tasks' each day for a bigger bonus.
It adds more PvE into the game, more things to do each day and it fits BloodWars positive feedback system
