On this quest/Task In the unknown parts of the Wastelands the Wolf King gathers his packs to slaughter you. Sneak into his hideout and shorten his life. Legend has it that he may be killed only with a silver bullet...

could i lend a clan members melee set to attack them or wont it count since its like an ambush

Yes you can borrow clan items, just note that "Legend has it that he may be killed only with a silver bullet" it kinda suggests it is easier with guns and it is rather correct there.
