The world cup is boring, and football is boring, theres many more things on TV than just the world cup and when they take over near enough every channel JUST to view the same match a SLIGHT different angles (1 centimeter difference -.-) it just becomes a ragefest. (by the way, i don't watch tv, i'm either out, playing pc/sexbawkz, or asleep. Yes it's a sad boring life i live 
)
We get it, england loves football, but i don't see why the flaming hell the whole country has to suffer, some people (like my mum) want their soaps, not football, others (like me) want NOTHING to do with it, we wanna watch tv to entertain ourselves.
So simple solution. MAKE A SINGLE/TWO CHANNELS STRICTLY FOR FOOTBALL, AND GIVE US EVERYTHING ELSE BACK.
Oh, and for all you football fanatics who are friends with NON-Fanatics, don't tell us what happened in the match, don't tell us how awesome it was, don't tell us who fouled who or what should of happened, we DON'T care. If we cared, we would either asked about it, or watched the match in the first place, and then i wouldn't be posting this now would i?

Totally unrelated: Don't stay up for 32+ hours playing 1 single game. Fortunately the game i was playing was awesome enough to warrent it. Also i kept putting porn up in the game and getting complaints (not knowing it's me doing it) or pretty much people screaming "LEMME SEE". Oh, and Princess Peach Porn seems to beat furry porn XD (ask in PM if you will XD)
MODS: If the line before this is TMI, mind just leaving this line in? And i mean JUST the last line, i'm sure some unrelated is allowed in a thread as long as it's not derailed.

lolz Nemz, you seriously need to take the occasional break from your game - just for a nice cup of tea, and may be a biscuit.
I don't really care that much for football, but grew up in a family who were (still are) football mad. So, can still banter with people about it if I have to, but would rather talk about something else. 
When I was at uni, I read a critical essay (wish I could remember the guys name), who was relating men's obsession with football (well most team sports), with the subconscious homosexual feelings that all men have -- don't argue with me; you do have them, you just don't know you do -- that's why they are called "subconscious".
I thought it was a most hillarious commentary on modern culture, and quite original at the time - it has become a more popular theory now.
Personally, I was more interested in a theory that I heard on the radio the other day, about fanaticism for team sports being more aligned with a religious experience. The guy who was talking quoted someone as saying:
"I am spiritual person, but I just can't go in for organized religious experiences, the idea of group worship just isn't relevant in modern society..." and then later in the conversation "...I going to love football, being amongst a crowd, cheering on your team, it's a great experience for the family." LOL
So, the long & short of it Nemz, is find football, or find god. hahahahaha.

I think the world cup warrents interest, many people such as my self dont watch football, or arent excited at all, but allow ourselves to have slight interest when it comes to international standard. As well as the arrogance of feeling better than other countries, through this random medium.

Simple answer is if you dont like it... dont watch it, there are HUNDREDS of other channels and if you dont like hearing about it dont go watching the news or going anywhere where theres anyone that will want to talk about it... like a pub.
Give football only 2 channels? There are specific channels for football like Sky SPORTS 1, 2 and 3... sport being the majour part of the name gives it away dont watch these

Don't watch it? Nearly every channel goes football crazy and starts advertising football, and all the mainly watched channels in this house (which happens to be channel 1 to 5) usually end up getting hogged by football -.- The only channels to watch are cartoons, and i think i'm a LITTLE bit too old to watch pokemon/yu-gi-oh/all that other crap.

Actually the games alternate. 3 games per day, kick-off times at 12.30, 15.00 & 19.30, shown on BBC1 and ITV1 alternately (or occasionally BBC3 or ITV4 instead).
As for the ads, that's inevitable, and happens with every occasion of the year. Corporations jump on any excuse to push crap at bovine society.
BBC2, C4 and C5 should all be pretty much football free in terms of coverage.

Its all there is in TV right now and when I don't want to watch it some1 will send me a link to see it online for christ sake , big deal grown man with a little football , run across huge field with a lot of commercial.

Why does someone who save lives usually on a daily basis get paid a hell of a lot less than someone who kicks a ball around a field a bit for 90 minutes?
So there's meant to be a lot of training involved in being a footballer, do you know how many years of study it takes to be a doctor? I can't be bothered to look up exact figures because they will differ from place to place, but it's at least 5 years. Biology and chemistry courses at college are 2 years each at my college, then there's the university courses, which you need 4/5 years of study just to be let loose anywhere near a patient, and then you have a few years of practice before you're considered 'competent'.
It's a very good job some people aren't just interested in money, what would happen if all the doctors became footballers cos its MUCH better pay, who would look after the footballers when they can't play for 3 months because they got a tiny scratch on their arm or whatever (footballers are wimps).
Try putting a footballer into a rugby game, see how long they last eh?

god knows what you must think of any of the entertainment industries, the people in those sure as excrement dont save lives and they earn more money than professional footballers.
also lmfao herp de derp rugby players are clearly bigger men than footballers, they both get paid to play sport, they both contribute precisely nothing to society other than utility for supporters who wouldn't exist if they did not. No one sport is any better than any other so kindly do not suggest otherwise.
Yup that tiny 5.5 foot tall footballer would get smashed on a rugby pitch, but put that 20st forward on a football pitch and see how many times he so much as touches the ball. They require different skill sets and are not comparable in any way. (an example of this would be disgraced athelete Dwayne Chambers and his enormous success as an American footballer /sarcasm)
Oh and clearly someone should explain the concept of the price mechanism and market forces to you, if there was a massive influx of new footballing talent wages would drop as competition would be greater. There are many many footballers out there playing for less than that doctor is earning i garauntee it given that there are far more people capable of playing in the lower skill leagues and you can price yourself out of a job/contract with outragous wage demands.
