The proof lies in the merge list, that's how I put most of it together. for example, suit + vest = corset, platinum + titanium = ruby, rogue + smuggler = addict etc. had to start making a list when I wanted my assault circlet of adrenaline 
thought I would finish it off for everyone else who needed it.

Well I've already found and listed the merges that I required, but this looks interesting.
I know this is a long shot, but you said "Once people know how to use it". Mind explaining how this works? Because this all seems like jibberish to me, unless it's ordered in shop sell price or something... which seems unlikely, and useless to me. I know shop selling price dictates the quality of the prefix/suffix often, but I fail to see how it dictates what two things will merge to.

Oh, it has many interests, first one was find out the missing merges in the merge list when it was still incomplete or wrong or people were keeping it secret..
Then it helps you merge nice items out of crap, since it has interest properties..it is simply a way to put naked the way designers conceived merges..
And finally it is graphic, if you know how to use it you don't need the other list for merge, and this is much quicker, extremely useful when you are merging an item requiring 15 or 20 merges.
Too long to explain all properties, but start putting all items in order and give them a numer..
1.copper
2.silver
3.emerald
4 golden
5.platinum
6.titanium
7.ruby
8.dignified
9.cunning
.....
now for every x in the list
x+x-1=x+1
x+x-2 or x-3=x
x+x-4 or x-5=x-1
and x1+x2=x((1+2/2) rounded up +1)
but there is more than 1 alghoritm, some items in top or end of list behave slightly different, but once you get 100% how it works that lets you work much quicker. If you don't get it or you're not enough geek to fully enjoy it let it be, the other way works just as well of this lol.

although im sure all the info in this thread is AMAZINGLY useful to people who have a brain blessed with merging capabilities....i read phillys post and fell over, when i stood up, grind posted and i fell over again -.-

I didn't feel the need to add these as there is no real order of which to put them. example: ring + bracelet = signet, signet + bracelet = ring. It's a triangle. As for the others, the merge list would comply enough for them I would think

I think rings could be put in this order:
Ring > Bracelet > Signet
in situation when you can't determine the quality order by merging possibilities quality = value in Lgo/requirements
as for the pants I think it's:
Shorts > Trousers > Skirt > Kilt
last merges are a bit messed up(kilt + trousers should give kilt if you look at other merges), but the first one(shorts + trousers = skirt) indicates that skirt should be the third one.

How many people actually want a skirt though?
I'd put them in order of what i would consider people most like
Signet > Bracelet > Ring
Kilt > Shorts > Trousers > Skirt

I think it's Shorts > Trousers > Skirt > Kilt
Undivisible mentioned in an earlier post that this seems to be the order, Shorts + Trousers = Skirt suggesting Skirt is 3rd, even though Trousers + Kilt should give you kilt in that case

I've noticed the fact that if you merge the third last and the last in a list you get the second last...
ie. trousers + kilt = skirt
or
death sower + orchid = speed
Is there yet another equation for this too?
I find it much easier to just think of the last 3 like this:
3rd last = x, 2nd last = y, last = z
x + y = z
x + z = y
y + z = x |
Applies when you are merging the "3rd to Last item" with the "Last item" on a valour list:
((x+y)/2)
Example) Last item on Armour suffix = 20 (3rd to last is 1
18+20 = 38
38 / 2 = 19
so:
18 + 20 = 19
deathsower + orchid = speed

short bow > bow > shuriken > long bow > crossbow > throwing knife > composite bow > javelin > pilum > throwing axe > heavy crossbow
