Proposal:
Make player lose some small number of points for each round that they don't participate in. That would prevent people from getting into a high position early in the season and then just sitting out to maintain that high ranking.
This is not a big issue although it should be addressed, take a look at the top 5 ranking in 3vs3 right now:
