I know that technically they're different, and it's just a naming convention, but it feels odd that the better plate mail is now worse than the basic plate mail :p

I'll keep living the dream.
It's a fluff (story) vs crunch (rules) problem.
We know there's a supposed logical progression in the armour quality.
But in game terms, you could re-label the items themselves as Green armour and Blue armour. They just ARE, the pictures and names are secondary to the stats.
I still hope the superficially best armour could become the best armour in raw game number terms though :p
