I've had 4 chars so far, though non of which ever above level 40.
Was looking at the top 10 players (as you do...) and had this stupendous idea of counting the races. Of the top 200, 96 are Thoughtcatchers, 60 are Cultists, 32 are Absorbers and 12 are Beastmasters.
Should I carry out the servey on the whole population of the server or will this fraction suffice? Do we see an inherent imbalance in the races? or merely a "preferece" of the players? is this deliberate (game designers offten make "unbalanced" things deliberately, in which case they are not "unbalanced")? and finally, what needs to be done, if anything at all??
Discuss, giving logical reasons for your answers, 500 words or less... :-P

So i'm assuming this is R2? People tend to choose Thoughcatchers because they have 10 Luck, this gives better item drops earlier on and also they have a helpful chance for dodging which makes them a nice race.

as it happens it is on Necropolis. but the races are the same everywhere, so i would assume that repeating the same experiment on other servers a similar result would be obtained. the +10 luck is prety awesome.... as for the dodge, where does that come from? the luck bonus? was not aware of that!

its not really the same everywhere, on r1 the balance is 38 absorbers, 18 thoughtcatchers, 15 cultists, 15 cursed ones, and 14 beastmasters.

im going to agree with god_like_friend, alot of people will have played on other servers before, so will know what to go for, and as luck has a greater effect on necro they will have gone for that, as it means that they can get good equipment fast, and therefore get a headstart. later on in the game, as all the races get good equipment the ratio may change, to what i am not sure though

how do you go about counting cursed ones? they do not appear as thus on the "rankings" link....

That's because no one has finished all ACT II quests on R2 (that I'm aware of)

Moved to Mishmash, you should reserve Game System for suggestions on Game mechanics.
